Control Units: 
AWS StormBase Unit for Lightning Detection: Based on TBI's proven, proprietary ThunderBolt® storm & lightning detection technology the AWS StormBase provides real-time lightning data for accurate and early detection and tracking of severe weather and lightning strikes within a 75 mile radius. Independent from any satellite feed the StormBase provides Storm Approach Speed, Estimated Time of Arrival and Time to Clear information specific to your location.
New features include Early Storm Formation Warnings and options for directional antenna systems. Once storm activity has been detected by the system, instant alerts are sent to the beacons, sirens and personal alert units to warn of approaching danger. StormBase also notifies when the storm has cleared and it is safe to return to normal activities.
The StormBase utilizes larger magnetic field detection antennas, and includes several types of detection not possible in the ThunderBolt® hand-held unit. A significant improvement is the addition of a high-gain channel designed for detecting the very weak signals generated by storm cells in the early stages of forming. This type of detection is not possible in the hand-held unit.
Because there are no size constraints in the StormVector™ StormBase control unit, larger antennas are used that increase both the sensitivity and accuracy of the data. The improvements can vary based on the specific strengths of signals being generated by a specific storm cell, but in general the StormVector™ AWS will be 2-3 times faster at ranging weak storm cells producing low levels of lightning activity. The accuracy of the AWS and the hand-held will generally be the same for active storms in the 10-40 kilometer ranges, but the AWS will significantly out-perform the hand-held unit at both sensitivity and accuracy at longer ranges. Increased sensitivity will result in faster plotting at all distances.
The Early Storm Formation (ESF) capability of the StormVector™ system is an important addition that adds up to 20 minutes of advanced warning for storm cells forming within 15-20 kilometers. The level of sensitivity for this function is user-selectable.
Area Warning System (AWS) Wireless Control Unit: The AWS Control unit commands the network of wireless warning beacons and other accessories of the system by signaling alarms with high-brightness red, yellow or blue alert lights and sirens. Each AWS Control unit can command up to 40 accessories in basic configuration, and up to 300 in the High Memory (HM) package. The AWS Control unit can also control a network of the personal-alert transceiver warning units.

Once connected via USB the AWS Control unit will email lightning warnings and other emergency warnings instantly to selected personnel, both on-site and off-site. You can determine which personnel receive these messages and when, as well as determine what message is communicated. The system permits you to segregate messages to all select personnel depending on the nature of the warning. As this pertains to operation shutdown due to threats, management at all levels, on-site or off-site, can be immediately notified when the shutdown occurs and when operations are re-started.
